Hello, is anyone out there using or has used a wade 140 cam, I just got an unused grind with a motor that is in pieces - the specs looks like it might be a rough idle I was wondering if anyone can tell me from experience wether it is easy to live with in traffic? Thanks Scott

I'm pretty sure that was the grind I used in my Cooper S in Melbourne in the early 1980s with 45 Weber and Brownrigg exhaust manifold and 10:1 CR. It coped with Melbourne traffic ok back then, slightly lumpy, but nowhere near as bad as the 1760 I had before that. It had very strong mid range.

Long time ago but I had a Wade 140 in a 1963 Cooper which had an 1100cc engine, weber etc, I can't recall it being difficult to drive in daily traffic. Bit of a lump to it but overall it was ok as a daily, I drove it for several years before buying a brand new 'S'.

Yep, not a bad cam in its day. Might be a bit much for daily driving in a small motor, but will cope well in a 1275.

Thanks everyone for your help, it is great to get some first hand accounts, it sounds quite drivable- strong mid range sounds particularly good

I have one in my 1275 Van. It is pleasantly antisocial.

It's fine in traffic, though certainly likes a rev. Idle is not an issue at all. I drive it to work once a week or so which is a 30 minute drive with lots of traffic lights - no problems, though you can certainly deafen people at full tilt.
