Different diameter ?
Silver is original
Gold is new replacement

As the original doesnt fit the new bushes I wonder if they've changed the sizing or have I got the wrong one ? :/

Check that it,s not a steel sleeve over original pin

Looks like the inner steel sleeves from the old bushes have stayed on the pins. Plenty of heat (gas or oxy torch) and vise grips should get them off.

Why doesn't the gold pin have a flange welded to the end? Without it, the nut would only be holding the pin at one end?!

Thats all the nut does even with the flange there.
Theres very little load on the nut, the big flange is completely not necessary.
