Hi wanting some engine bay pics to identify what holes I need to weld up in my 65 deluxe.

the below holes in blue are the ones I'm not too sure about?

Only ones I'm pretty sure of is...

..third pic, on the crossmember, yes that hole is supposed to have the same clip that is used to hold the green overflow hose on the back of the radiator. It's meant to hold the speedo cable away from the exhaust.

...pretty sure the extra holes top and bottom of rad shroud are not meant to be there.

...third pic, apart from what might have held the ID plate I don't think any of those marked should be there.

...last pic very bottom hole I think is for wires to headlight etc (usually with a grommet fitted) I'm sure many of the others in that pic are not meant to be there but lets see what others say.

On the firewall should be three holes for the w/w motor, then two (one above the other) for the w/w washer bottle bracket, and then four (w/captive nuts for the speedo binnacle). Then there's the two holes for the ID plate.
Then there's the hole in the cross member as explained by Phill. There's also a couple of hole where the firewall meets the cross member. I just put rubber plugs in there.
On the inner guard, there should be holes for the terminal block, the voltage regulator, and maybe the heater locating clip (can't see for sure in your photo, and finally the earth strap mount.

Im pretty much the same thought train as everyone else. the panel that's got me a bit stumped is the LHS panel where the voltage reg goes. there is a couple oh hole where horns had been bolted to the inside of the guard.

the two vertical holes below the bonnet stay appear to be original (in my view) perhaps a a fresh air heater box.

the only other one is the wiring for the head light that I was under the impression ran through the little hole/void formed between the front cross member and the inner panel... but just guessing.

Those 2 holes are in the correct place for front booster bracket on Ss.

Asiemek - what is your aim with the car? Are you doing a restoration back to exactly how it looked when new? If so be aware some holes were present but not actually used on 65 Deluxe bodyshell. As Bill B has stated, there are two holes for Lockheed booster front bracket that are present on most round nose Minis, not just the Mark 1 Cooper S. The factory used the same flitch panel across the range, presumably as a cost saving measure. My 1970 Cooper S has them, unused of course because the later VH44 booster only had one bracket closer to the firewall.

Thanks all. Aim is to keep or get back to a fairly original mini and weld up holes that really have no use in this mini.

The holes in the radiator schroud look the same as in the cooper s build. Anyone know what there for?

Keep all the following standard holes.

Keep those holes in the radiator shroud.
Keep the 2 vertical holes at the front of the inner wing.
Keep the single hole for the speedo cable clip.
Keep 2 holes for the ID plate.
Keep 2 holes for the regulator.
Keep the hole for the engine earth strap.

And as already stated the hole for the securing of the terminal (fuse) block.
Any holes on the inner guard for fitment of a fresh air heater will be two right up high (almost hidden by the wiring harness when installed, and two holes for the horizontal lower mounting bracket are below and to the right of the two vertical holes.

Don't be too harsh on yourself - if you have the flat rubber seal strip still between the cowl and radiator, these holes are not easily seen.

Are they just tooling holes, or was something installed there on some models?
