Post subject:  Help please to finish my rebuild

Seeking help out there on a couple of items:

1. Currently reassembling my 1098 engine and near ready to reinstall in a couple of days. On the reinstallation of the motor, can it be reinstalled with the carbies and extractors intact. I can do it afterwards but is so much easier whilst the engine is out.

2. I have a Facet electric fuel pump. Can it be installed under the bonnet instead of up the back closer to the tank on the subframe. Runs fairly close to the muffler.

3. Are the little hooks that hold the rubber battery strap available. Easy to make but just enquiring.

4. Is the bracket that holds the windscreen washer pump just to the right of the ignition panel still available. Again, easy to make if not available.

Any information or advise much appreciated.

1. Depends what extractors. And the carbies may need to come off manifold?
2.These Facets are pusher pumps, they are NOT designed to suck fuel from the front. Also, pumps high mounted at the front can suffer vapour lock in hot weather.
3 & 4. Not sure.

(Edit) typo

1. not worth the extra pain... put them on once it's in the car

3. That rubber strap is for holding the battery cover in place, not the battery itself.

4. On my vehicles the w/w pump button is mounted in the rh hole of the switch panel. The choke pull is mounted in the bracket to the right. I have some spare.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've sized up the carbies on the manifold. Looks difficult and fair chance of scratching the duco on installation. Will leave them off and fit later. Good bye nuckles !

Fuel pump looks like it needs to go down the back. I'm just being paranoid about fuel leaks on the muffler.

Hey David, I realize the battery strap only holds the cover on. Will make some look alike brackets.

Also David, my choke pull is on the instrument cluster, washer pump to the right if it.

Thanks guys for advise and words of wisdom.

As I said, both of my choke cables are located to the rhs of the switch panel. I believe this is because the mounting bracket is angled to create a slightly better curve for the cable to pass through the lower down hole in the firewall and then come up to the carby in the engine bay.

Cheers
