I'm Interested to know what is the standard clearance and what everyone's clearance actually is.
Roadworthy in VIC says 100mm at lowest point but I can't see too many minis being that high.

My clubby had about 2 fingers between the tyre and guard and was 110mm from the sump and 95mm from the ehxaust.

What you need to worry about is the lower, front fins on the sump...100mm is probably OK but they are still very vulnerable :!: :D

if it's less than 10cm then it's unroadworthy - I've been done for having my exhaust too low.

The cop got out a breath tester straw and waved it around under the car. It touched at the exhaust so I got a canary and $160 fine

The law was 6", but they reduced it to 4" when Minis were released in 1960

Wow mine was sat on the ground when i Bought it the underneath looks like the moon the amount of dents it has. i can see every speed hump it ever went over. So i raised it.
its now more comfortable and goes over speed humps

There are alot of irate "drifters" on some of the facebook groups, when the cops set up check stations. They generally go around with a 100mm Ball on a stick, shove it under in a few places and see if it hits anything.

I thought mini's were allowed by law to be 90mm or something like that :?:
But your 6" to 4" sounds a bit more correct.

Girlfriends Jetta would be lucky to clear 60mm... Makes for some interesting times

100mm is the minimum height in Victoria. Some roadworthy checking stations have a ball on a stick to check underneath. If you hoon around and give the cops the shits, they will find something, and I don't blame them. Hoons and dickheads ruin it for everyone.

ADR 43 says 100mm. After converting mine to a B16 which is slightly heavier it will be tough to get it that high even if it is just for the roadworthy.

My B16 mini is 100mm clear of the ground to everything when the seam under the door is at 245mm from ground......
After a roady I'll probably lower it about 20mm again if I can - I'm not sure how the suspension will take the weight so it may need to sit at that height anyway.

Is that ADR apply to all minis or just 71 onwards?

Cars manufactured pre-ADR are picked up by the Vehicle Standards Rules, which specify the same 100mmm anyway... so it applies to all cars.
