Geez do we get ripped off here on tyres.
I need 2 to replace my 20 year old rear ones. My mate Joe wants 2 also.
Poms get A008s for around GBP50 including VAT, = A$88. Cheapest I can find them in Sydney so far is $139 from Bob Jane. My neighbour the local tyre dealer can't get near $139, he says.

We might bring some in with mag wheels yet, and sell the wheels! :!: Would work out cheaper.
/end rant

Cheapest I found in Wollongong was $139. But couldn't get them in straight away. Found another for $146.

They are only cheap from UK if you bring wheels in too.
Freight is the killer. Volume is hardly more with wheels in them.

My AO32s were cheap from the UK without tyres. Compared to here. ;)

I recently purchased 5 for my Van from a mate who works for an independent tyre shop in the bush. He did them at $100 each which included freight to country Victoria.

At $130-$140 in a major city there must be some wriggle room for the dealers.

At that price your mate could end up with a lot of new mates :D

Don't forget fitting, balancing and tyre disposal costs on top of any tyres bought loose. The guys who fit them won't do a super low price for this if the tyres were bought from elsewhere......you are looking at around $100 for 4 tyres for this service unless you have a mate who has access to the machines! (the cost could be as low as 1 slab of beer!)

If that $100 per included fitting etc, Humphrey78 mentioned, sounds about the best price around lately - nice score!
