Post subject:  Rear shocks on hydrolastic suspension

Hi,
Is it possible to put a rear shock on a hydrolastic car? I am attempting to do so, but have run into a problem. I have changed the stub axle to accept the shock. The problem I have discovered is that it hits the hydrolastic bag and doesnt allow full sespension travel. Any ideas, orherwise I'll have to change the stub axle back to a spring one.

lol, don't even bother... you need to stop and understand what the spring does

the spring "simulates" extra weight at the rear of the car to compensate for the significantly heavier front-end, if you take it off, that weight is missing, so the car will just sit on it's nose

As per simon k,
The helper spring at the rear has an effect on the height at the front BECAUSE hydrolastic connects the front and rear - push down on the front guard and the rear will rise. Dry suspension does not connect a movement at the front wheel to the back wheel.
That is why fitting a shock absorber only at the front of a hydro car is enough to have a damping effect to front and rear.
