I have been having an issue with the left hand side door step. I posted a wanted add for a replacement step sill panel. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=93011 . I thought I would continue the discussion here. The original in the car was pretty bad, full of bog and rust so decided to cut it out and replace it with a panel from Mini King. I am actually replacing both the inner sill and outer sill. The issue I have found with the MKO panel is that at point A in the drawing below the Replacement panel measures 4.2mm while the original measures 7.3mm. This gives a wider door gap at the bottom. Seeing at though I am fitting a new outer sill I can lift the outer sill to compensate but we found that the S type chrome moulding will foul the bottom of the door. There is not enough meat at point B on the panel I have to flatted out the bend and refold it at the correct dimension. Anybody else had this issue? I am chasing an original panel from a wreck is somebody has one..... Cheers Ian ![]() |

Is it possible the panel you bought is intended for a mk3 car since the have bigger door openings? |

yes, This is Johns reply in the wanted thread. Just to clear up a few points about this panel, 1 They are a Magnum panel, 2 I purchased them as suitable for the UK Mk1 Mini Which should mean it will fit our Cars |

John At minikingdomonline did have step panels which I think we're cut from genuine clubman door opening panels - I'd ask him if he has any left. I think they were cut from left side panels but they fitted both sides if you only need the flat part of the step. I had a few but not sure if I still have them as I've used some at various stages. i have some "New Old Stock" door jam panels here i`ve forgotten which side they are, (they`re upstairs & i`d have to go loo) but you could buy one of those & trim the piece out from the bottom of it for your repair Matt 0407135656 |
