Anybody have one lying around ?

If not I will go about remaking some of the panels..

Question though .. That colour ( the olive silver) is that the original colour ? An undercoat or plating ?
Many thanks gents

They were all painted black. Not sure if plated underneath.

I have one. The top mounting tabs have broken off but the rest appears fine, like not rusty but certainly not restored.

As Dr Kev mentioned, they were all painted black.

they were never plated. It appears to me that this has been
chemically cleaned, and if I am correct that would account
for the colour

There were 2 types-
Early ones had 3 bolts, later ones had 2 bolts at top and a V rubber (like a Moke bonnet hinge one) at the bottom, which sat in a |_| shaped bolt.

Yes John that may be the reason as I caustic bath all of my bits before restoring them ...
This silvery tone comes up often

On the backing plate for example.

The one I have is the later one then Doc.

Would that have been correct for a late 68 ?

Not sure when that came in. Mine is 3/70 and has it, so did a 69 one that I had.

This is the early one. It will require you to drill a hole on the inner panel and remove the bracket.
