Well I've been lurking around the forum for a while now and thought It's time to make a post and get involved. I recently bought a MK1 Cooper S as a project. (Best described as a renovators delight.) My first car many years ago was a MK1 that had been upgraded with an 1100, twin carbs ,etc. I wanted to buy a Cooper S at the time but the guy refused to sell it to me. ( He thought I would kill it and possibly myself, He was probably right.) Well a few years on I've got one. Restoration has begun and I've already found heaps of useful information on the forum. The plan at this stage is to restore it as close as possible to original. (But that could change.) ![]() |

Welcome and congrats on the buy. I remember it had a lot of spare parts with it. Have you got it running yet? |

Welcome (back?)! Hawken wrote: The plan at this stage is to restore it as close as possible to original. (But that could change.) Famous last words ![]() There was a guy with a lovely deluxe who meticulously restored his car back to authentic stock condition, wing nuts and hose clamps and all. The next time I saw him he had a great big Graham Russell motor in it with a Webber. I said what happened to originality? He said "it was too boring" haha True story |
