Post subject:  Rear drum adjustment?

I was adjusting my rear drums the other day and before I got to a good adjustment the "bolt" ran out of thread and fell into the drum assembly.
I'm wondering if there are short and long versions of the "slide pins" thingies :?:

not that I've seen, but they do wear out... there is also the problem of machined oversize drums and standard shoes ending up with too much gap between the shoes at the adjuster. I weld a little bit on to the end of the shoe to give more adjustment

Take the drums and shoes to recliners, they match the shoes to drums by fitting OS linings and machine drums to suit. If the bolt goes right through something is worn too far. A stop gap measure could be a tab bent round the end of shoe stop.

These days it is cheaper to go buy 2 new drums and a new set of std shoes. And I found these stop better than the relined ones.

Yeah, you're probably right, bits like drums are relatively cheap compared to what they used to be.

Ahhh yes they are over sized drums, that will make sense. The slides don't look worn so maybe welding the shoes a touch will do the trick.
