Possibly looking at swapping my 2003 ford focus for a running clubman mini (still waiting on pics) from someone not too far from me in the scheme of things. It would just be a daily to zip around town in. Is metallic blue with white stripes, twin carbs ect, should be getting some pics of it this arvo, apparantly runs well but needs radiator swapped out (which he will do). Does this sound like a fair trade? I know is hard to answer without seeing it. I think I could survive without air con for the short drive to work! |

lol, a couple of years ago I put my daily driven Cooper S on club plates and bought.... a 2003 ford focus - it's a bit gutless, but I love the reliability... Just from an economic point of view, the mini will hold value or increase, the focus is worth bugger all and will be worth scrap value in a couple of years. |

Is worth decent money atm and they are very reliable, but must admit a daily mini while I restore the others is quite appealing!! |

I have an LX sedan, was worth about $4K till I had a minor oops mooman10_0 wrote: must admit a daily mini while I restore the others is quite appealing!! appealing, yes, but having to spend time and money maintaining the daily driver does kill off the desire to work on project cars, hence my engine conversion hasn't made any progress in 12 years.... but then I was also modifying the cooper and competing in it, maybe if I'd kept it standard and not kept making it more and more unreliable it would have been OK. The last couple of weeks I've been taking all of the go-fast bits off it so I can use it a bit without headaches (and not just from the petrol fumes) |

Around Adelaide a 2003 Focus starts at $2K for a rough one to $6K for a mint one. So a similar price to a running clubby. It all depends on condition. The Mini will hold its value as long as there is no rust. Get some photos. |

Well my Daughters school wheels - a Clubbie S cost $25 (I paid extra because it had a full tank of fuel:) and lasted 3 years before it ate a valve. I couldn't charge the destroyed wheels and rear trailing arm to the car ... rather the consequences of teenage exuberance.. It wasn't pretty but in pretty good standard mechanical condition. If yours is in reasonable nick it should give years of routine service. Cheers, Ian |
