Okay, I wanna change from the standard ball bearings on my front drums to tapered roller bearings. Does anyone have any info on how to go about this (if it's possible)?

I've been told that if you can get the tapered bearings with the correct spacer, it can be done, but that's all I know.

These Timken tapered rollers come as a kit for Cooper S, $68 per side from Karcraft.
Kit does NOT include seals.

You can also get them from a bearing company, eg BSC, like I did last month.
If you can get a good trade discount they should cost you about $40 per side, incl GST.

NOTE Timken bearings kit # has been changed- it is now LM67049A 9F2B8

You need 2 kits per car.

This kit includes 2 Timken cups, 2 cones, and a spacer for that set. Don't mix them- they are ground to suit that pair of bearings.

YES they will fit drum brake hubs. ID and OD are the same as the ball bearings. 8)

Any Mini parts place would have them. Repco used to, but the other day they had NLA shown on rear ones, anyway.

Try a bearing company- SKF, CBC, BSC or whoever you got up there. They would have a listing.

You can get from [email protected] in Sydney.

p/n is AYA4021/2, $2.32 each... you need 4 of 'em.

Airmail to you is $10.50 up to 3kg.

Ask them to send you a catalog. 8)
