Post subject: | what's this windscreen from? |
Hi Everyone, Currently trying to clean out the place from all the random bits that I have lying around and found this windscreen: ![]() It seems stubbier than a normal rear windscreen for a mini (ie shorter length but wider) and possibly has more of a curve to it. Not sure how I ended up with it, but was wondering if anyone knows what it might be from? cheers, Richard |

Looks like a rear screen from something 60s but without any dimensions it could be tricky working out if its beetle, 356 speedster, or corvette or whatever its actually from! |

fair enough. I actually meant to get the dimensions and even a photo comparing it to a mini one, but ran out of time. Will do my best to get the dimensions tomorrow. My best guess was a VW beetle, so i have no idea now! |

I only just realised that the Doc was talking about a front screen. I only ever saw it as a rear screen. |

OK, finally got the measurements. It is approximately 85cm wide and 37.5cm tall. I I have no idea.... |

It would be unusual if it didn't have some king of etched marking, like 'Triplex' or 'Made in Germany', it could be very faint. Tim |

In the middle (what I assume to be the bottom side) is a little circle of writing that says "Armourplate safety glass". Does that help? |

Not much help to me. Pilkington made armourplate in lots of different countries, including Australia. Holden used it a bit, but I don't know if any BMC cars would have used it. Most BMC cars had Triplex glass, which is apparently a subsidiary of Pilkington. Tim |
