Post subject:  'A Panel' sourcing/replacing

Hi all,

I'm in the process of ordering body panels. I need left and right A Panels (both inner and outer).
Looking at parts online for research I see a huge difference in price between the genuine and non-genuine parts.
I know 'you get what you pay for' and i'm leaning towards the genuine product but has anyone fitted either of these new inner/outer A Panels of either brand?
Are there any major differences between these parts?
Are the look/fit similar to original?
I'm guessing the Australian A Panels are the same as the UK ones? (The Australian shops sell the ones from UK so I guess they are OK?).

Any thoughts/advice/words of wisdom is appreciated.

I have a pair of new outer A panels here which will need work to fit. Shape is not perfect.
They are non-genuine UK ones. Heritage panels would probably fit better.
[edit] I will probably cut these 2 up for patches.

Justin
I used genuine heritage inner and outer A-panels on my van and they fit perfectly with no mods required.
As Dr. Mini mentions, the non-genuine ones may need modification to fit.
It depends whether you want to save money or time.
Cheers
Dave

It looks like genuine parts are the go.

Just looking at online resources (as its Australia Day and nothing's open) and I can't see any Australian retailers listing the genuine inner panel.
I see why non-genuine parts have been purchased.

Also the reason I'm Having issues with inkers is because the pattern panels are designed to fit the pattern panel inner wing, it has two reliefs for the hinges, which stick out on non gen panels.

I assume you mean via an online store. Have you spoken to the various parts businesses in person? It may be available somewhere but just not listed. Some of the businesses don't have a store.

I've checked out a few (read: all) online stores in Australia and a few price list's from other suppliers received in PDF.
Have I rung and spoken to someone? No.
My research is done online. If you don't have an online presence, you're not on the shortlist.
Why is there such an issue in Australia with buying online yet almost every mini shop in the UK has an online store?

(thanks AWOODY, i'll give him a call/drop him an email.)

Economies of scale.

I'm surprised some people don't buy their petrol online.

I would if I could!
Home delivery and filled up overnight. What an awesome idea!
Unfortunately my fleet card dictates where we fill up so choice is out!
