Looking at getting the Mini tinted, have a few questions:

Anyone in Western Sydney worth going to that will do a good job for a good price?

Is there anything special about tinting a mini compared to a new car?

People say it's illegal to tint the front wind screen, but still i see cars with the wind screen tinted; whats the go here?

Not really, though the job will look much neater if the windows are done when they're off the car.

Those cars have the window illegally tinted. In some states you can do the top 2-3 inches of the windscreen but no more.

On the subject of tinted windscreeens, I used to have a band tinted screen in my 1275LS that had the top 3" of the screen made with tinted glass. (this is perfectly legal)
It was a dead set pain in the bum that screen was! At night you had to squat down in the seat to see under the tint so that you could see where you were going.

So if you want to tint your windcreen there is a good chance that you will not see crap at night.

Been there done that

Most tint places will try to sell you 5% tint ask for 20%( limo tint, so you can still see outa the glass at night) looks cool

I have seen someone mention on ausmini before, that you can get clear tinting. Its an interesting idea if you just want the tinting effect of keeping the car cool. If you want the dark window look then that won't help...

Cheers

Spoke to a place called "Prestige & Custom Car Salon" in the hills district today, really helpful bunch.

Quoted me $260 for the whole car in darkest legal.
Asked about a clear film for the front windshield, but i was advised not to, as he said it goes on the outside and water gets down behind it?
Not so sure about it, but i'll steer clear of that.

260 for a mini is dear....I had Linus done for just over half that. But then, the same place had also done my Celica so maybe they gave me a discount?

Im about to have my XR6 Falcon & the wifes XR4 Feista tinted by a mobile guy, $200 for the fiesta, $250 for the Falcon, so $260 to do a mini is way expensive, PM me if you want his contact details, he comes to you.

Ive just been ringing around Cairns for quotes for my BMW 3 Series. The prices have ranged from $280 to $650 to strip and re-tint in T20.
