I was changing the oil on the mini and noticed this split pin poking out through a hole in the clutch cover. Where is it from?

It is supposed to be there. Lets oil out to tell you the primary drive seal behind the clutch is leaking. The split pin prevents the hole from blocking up.

Those poms had some funny ideas. "Gee Harry, Alex made a hole in the clutch housing, we'll have to put something in it". "Yeah Alf, whack a split pin in it, it'll really confuse people, ha ha"

Jiggle Pins have been around for a loooooong time.
They sit in there harmlessly rattling around ensuring the hole doesn't get blocked up so that the "tell tale hole" is always clear to do what it was designed there to do!
