Hi Everyone, Am about to start resto on a red mini k, body in great nic, noticed some bondo on passenger side fender so chipped away at it, no rust but has had a bingle on that corner at some stage over 20 years ago (Is limited to just around the arch, doesnt go back past the seem so wouldnt have been a big hit) . All the body dimensions are the same both sides, BUT centre wheel front to back has a 3cm difference from passenger to drivers side. The wheel of the passenger side is the culprit as it is clearly pushed forward. Qu is does this mean bent subframe somewhere (replace?), the front tie rod is slightly bent but not 3cm worth. There is no play in the wheel on that side in any of the rubber components. Jut weighing up if I go down the route of buying new frame (Is currently hydro, all bags are good), and if I do do I keep it a wet frame?. Im starting to budget everything out and was going to remove frames anyway once I change clutch master and slave to check that the gearbox in this thing is as good as the engine sounds. the workshop manual SP #64 has subframe dimensions with triangulations to check for bent subframes, so you can check it while it's out.... but even if it's not straight, I reckon you're better with a set of adjustable arms to pull everything in to line than to try to find another subframe that's better (can you buy new hydro subframes??) |

I measured tie rods last night and one is bent about 1 and a bit cm more than the other, so I think it may just be tie rods. Fingers crossed! |

Following up on this post-I bought the car off Moonman10_0 and now have the front subframe out as I'm rebuilding the car. Arbitrary measurements from the same points on the subframe show that the diagonal measurement from the front drivers side to the rear passengers side of the front subframe is indeed 3cm longer than the diagonal measurement from the front passengers side to rear drivers side. NOTE: I'm currently looking for another wet front subframe to replace this bent one if anyone in Adelaide has one BTW Steve, the rest of the car is really good and I'm still happy with the purchase!!
