Does anyone have any information on this rocker cover, is it rare or anything? Cheers. Richard. Image

They were sand cast, Australian made, most have no maker's name, but the one on Laingy's 1387 Mini van does .
I had one on my 1412 stroker.
They are quite a solid casting, unlike the flimsy diecast Chinese ones being sold now.

Thanks doc, no makers name on mine. My 1.5 roller tip rockers fit under so I'll be sporting a new cover.

I've gone back to an original tin one as the alloy one I had on was fouling on the rockers. I think it was because the grommets were a bit flogged though. I might pull it out and grab a new set.

Evan,
Sometimes you need to move rocker covers back a bit to clear hi-lift rockers. Particularly if you are running my Corolla ones still.
I don't use the rubber grommets now, the crap rubber they are made from is allergic to oil. I cut polyurethane washers and fitted them instead.

Good idea Doc. I did note that they would clear by moving the cover back slightly but my grommets were already prerty shat. Time to revisit.

With that alloy cover you don't need a grommet through the hole.
I can make you a couple of 5mm thick poly washers, but not until after 1st August. My mate has my bit of poly sheet, and he's on hols.

Just get some new grommets from Lincoln and slice off the bit that goes through the hole. Tighten down the cover a little and push it back. Finally tightly finish it off white holding it back.
This should then give an extra 3 or so millimetres clearance. Done. xxx

Bit of a thread dig... any idea on the maker?

Nope. I have an unmarked one too, although I could get my 1,5 roller rockers to fit if I positioned it just right.

Laingy's one has the name 'T J Dunn and Co, Sydney' cast on top.

Lynx was who I thought might have had something to do with making the finned A-series and B-series ally covers here.
Castalloy in Adelaide and Monaro Motors in Melbourne were other makers but in the 1950s.

I have the same alloy rocker cover (albeit somewhat modified) on my Bugeye Sprite motor. I always thought it to be a Lynx product, but there's no manufacturer's markings on it as far as I know.
