Can't say I have ever seen anyone post on here saying new alloy over old cast ones.

My only though would be the alloy is softer. Havent any experience with them though. They have metric threads also. They wouldn't rust!

I am considering refurbishing the old original ones sounds like they will last longer.

What's to gain by alloy on the road is my thought.

I say original cast steel ones
strip a thread in alloy and the fun begins like with boot hinges

Heres a link to refurbishing them

Definitely refurbed originals Hayden, the alloy ones will wear out quick.
Cheers

I refurbished my old cast ones, new bush and pin good as new.
as said above the mounting threads would be the only weak point on Alloy ones

Thank you all for your replys I will defiantly refurbish the old ones. As the alloys do sound like they will wear a lot quicker.

Are the new boot hinges okay or better off originals.?
