Hi all, I have a Dusk Blue '65 Australian Cooper S and as my seat seams are splitting, stained and worn, and door cards and vinyl are in sad shape, I wondered if Newton is the only option? Has anyone priced Newton for door cards, rear cards below quarter windows, the vinyl that covers inside of rear wheel arches and all seats? Newton shows about $530 just for the trim other than seats, so probably well over $1,000 USD for the whole lot. Local trimmers here are probably closer to $2000 - $3000 USD for a decent job, but I'm getting quotes now. I just thought that maybe there was an Australian supplier of a kit that would be more affordable and maybe replicates the original materials and patterns better. Cheers, Craig |

There are some Australian companies that can possibly replicate the Aussie door trims. Dash Original in South Australia comes to mind, they show a 68-70 style door trim on their website Newton doesn't appear to do the 65-67 trims, they do the 68-70 style. |

Newton can do the Aussie style door trims. They are just limited for colours as they do not have all of the Aussie colours as the trim material was sourced locally. I spoke with Johny Newton when I was a the IMM a few weeks ago and he advised the above. |

Thanks, I've reached out to Dash Original. I'll see what they say, although they don't list Mini in their car options. My carpet isn't bad, so really just looking for seat covers & foam, door cards and vinyl wheel arch covers. I re-did my rear parcel shelf a few years ago and it came out well, and also cut new front parcel shelf pieces from original-looking textured pressed board using my old ones as templates. Headliner is actually perfect. My door cards don't have any welded lines going across them, so they were cheaply redone in the past. I'll also get a quote from Newton, and I'm heading out now to a local upholstery guy who is recommended. I like doing things myself, so if Newton is the best price, and correct to the year, that is fine with me. Edit: The quote from the shop (Only for the front seats and door cards) was $2200 USD, which is about $2355 AUD. This guy does really quality work and I didn't get the feeling that this quote was out of line with what I would find in my area through other shops. However, it is way more than I want to spend for 2 seats and door cards. The rear seats are original tuck and roll, while the fronts that were reupholstered cheaply at some point just have stitched lines. The rear seat is in surprisingly good condition actually, except for some sun fading on the top of the back. I thought I read somewhere that the Newton Australian kits were for '67 and later Australian cars and would not be correct for a '65? |
