Hey I'm really struggling to fit the rear glass on my mini. I'm putting the bottom in then either side, but l cant get the top and top corners in. I'm using nice soapy water and a some plastic scrapers but with no luck. The rubber is cut up the top and it seems to roll out of the frame as l am trying to work the top corners in. Any advice from people who have mastered this, thanks heaps. |

Dave. They can be tricky, more so, if the rubber is new. Sounds like you're doing it right. Sit the rubber around the window frame Smear either soapy water or spray with silicon spray or a bit of turps. When you place the glass in the bottom rubber, you want it to slip right in. With someone helping, work the glass into the rubbers starting at the bottom/s. Massage it as you go, as it will need to "bed-in". As you get to the top, while someone inside pushes the rubber out to meet the glass. This is tricky. The rubber will be on an angle. Once you get it in (on the edge), thump it so the glass slids down into the rubber and the rubber and glass roll forward into the frame. I use a rounded off scew driver to work the rubber over the glass. It's hard to put into words, but once you have done it, it makes sense. Making and keeping the rubber slippery is important. Also, make sure the rubber is on the right way. The depth of the "H" rubber is slightly different. The glass side has a flat to sit in, and is the right thickness for the glass. Also try Youtube to see a couple being done. I haven't looked, but everythings on there. Cheers Alex. |

I had problems with the corners folding in and just use a sort of oil seal remover hook i got from a tool shop in st marys and ran it around the out side of glass when i got a mate on the inside it went in easy Then got some glass sealent from repco and ran it on the out side then done the locking strip The front sreen got done by a shop at kingswood i suplied the screen and rubber and lock strip as old one had a crack |

Sight across the car with window out, to check the 2 side flanges are parallel. Mine isn't because the car had a shunt in the LR sometime in the past. It was a bastard for 2 people to fit, next time out I will twist the flanges a little. |

I've been bending mine up out of gash wire around the house, and clamping them in a pair of vice grips... But they're cheap now. I just (finally after 20 years  ) bought one for I think 10 dollars with the spreader strips to put the glass in on the 997 again.

When installing front and rear screens, I can't find if the rubber join is at the top or the bottom. Then is the filler strip join at the top or the bottom. |

I always put the cut / join at the bottom. Glass in at bottom then sides. with the top it seems to go best if the rubber is angled out a bit then as the glass goes into the rubber it finally rolls in with a THWUCK |

If you have bought a rubber which was made in the UK, which sell here, the rear screen will not fit. With the correct rubber not a problem, use butyl mastic to seal the screen. Allen |
