My mate has a rebuilt 1293 that is a bit worked, problem is that it has a massive flatspot when putting your foot down and it seems to die off and won't rev above 5500 rpm. It only running a 1.5 inch SU (fully rebuilt) at the moment but will swap to twins soon. Also has a standard 998 non-vacuum adv dizzy. Ideas? |

I'v also had a simmilar problem. I checked everything from the fuel pump to blowing out the HIF44. Then I checked all the Elec Changed the points and condencer. It turned out after fitting the new point they were then closing again. I could not understand it. I would ajust the gap and then the same thing would happen. Thinking They were fine I went onto the next area. Try your points. Gamfo In the Hills |

The reason new points close up is lack of lube on the cam, usually. This wears the points rubbing block. Smear a little HMP grease on the cam. ![]() |
