My mate has a rebuilt 1293 that is a bit worked, problem is that it has a massive flatspot when putting your foot down and it seems to die off and won't rev above 5500 rpm.

It only running a 1.5 inch SU (fully rebuilt) at the moment but will swap to twins soon.

Also has a standard 998 non-vacuum adv dizzy.

Ideas?

I've just had carbie problems, and it sounds like it could be that.

That dizzy maybe the problem, but i'm no expert when in this area.

I'v also had a simmilar problem. I checked everything from the fuel pump to blowing out the HIF44. Then I checked all the Elec Changed the points and condencer. It turned out after fitting the new point they were then closing again. I could not understand it. I would ajust the gap and then the same thing would happen. Thinking They were fine I went onto the next area. Try your points.

The reason new points close up is lack of lube on the cam, usually. This wears the points rubbing block.
Smear a little HMP grease on the cam.
