Post subject: | Rear brake drums |
Got my mini through the Road Worthy Certificate the other day with a set of borrowed rear brake drums. Couldn't use mine as they're standard and I needed the ones with the built in spacer. Anyway, in a bit of a hurry changing them back the other day and I had to force them on. The adjusters are completely un-done and the hand brake cables have been loosened, but the brakes are still binding and I can't get the drums off. Any suggestions or thoughts please? |

dunno why they're stuck on, but put a wheel nut on backwards on each stud (to protect the thread) and tap on them with a hammer, the drum will jiggle off |

Maybe the brake shoes are oversize? And the drums are standard? |

Hah........got 'em off. They just needed the usual hammer trick. Just needed a bit more 'time' than what I had the other day ![]() |

Worst ones I ever had to remove were on Spiro the Moke, years ago. Had been rusted still for 10 or 20 years, wouldn't move at all so I got the angle grinder out and split em off. ![]() |
