You comitted to the standard type?
I put the later type seal on my car, the one that fits to the body not the boot lid. Works really well and you can instal it in seconds.

Got it from karcraft and the boot it just too tights to close. I thought it just needs to soften up a bit but nope just way too tight. Any ideas or any other places to get a similar rubber from but softer? |

There seem to be 2 types of the boot seals which go onto the boot itself. One of these doesn't squish up as much as the other. It sounds like you have the thicker one which is normally a struggle to close. Check with the different parts suppliers around and find whoever has the good ones that you can actually close the boot with. |

I had the same problem last time, after buying 2 others that were too hard I finished up getting this one from Minisport SA. http://minisport.com.au/prod505.htm and it's good. I think Mini King has a similar one now. |

I am surprised to here this. Our seals come from the OE supplier to Rover in the UK. We had this problem a couple of years ago and the manufacturer changed the density of the rubber. Will check all our stock on Monday. Cld our customer please contact us so we can fix this for him. Regards Greg

I've had no troubles with any of mine, all from Kc. They are 'tight' for a few weeks, but soon bed in. Seal well. The clips are easy, but I wouldn't try it with the boot lid still on the car. |

This topic has come around at the right time. I know its slightly off the main topic, but is the a trick to these clips. I've replaced them all, but they give very little clearance to slip the thin part of the seal under. They also move about making it next to impossible to hold still and feed the rubber in. Anyone have a trick to this. I'm using the ones from Minisport SA. Thanks |

Those clips were an epic bitch. I recently put all new clips in with a new rubber from karcraft. I was about ready to pick the mini up and throw it through the window by the end of it. Like GT said, do it with the boot on a bench. I found it best to push the clip most of the way in, slip the seal in place and then push the clip down into place. Just make sure you've got the clips and the seal around the right way, because it's going to be a pain to change if you get it wrong. In the end, the boot was tight, but closeable. My wife thought it was locked when she went to open it though. Harley, I'd be interested to know what seal you bought and from where. |

I did mine with the boot on the car still. Wasn't too hard. I put a tiny bit of sikaflex on the clips as I put them in to stop them moving round too much. I have found that the boot is a very tight close now, And I have been keeping it shut for months now. I think if I adjusted the hinges and latch a bit it might make it better. I think part of the problem is that the lower part of the rear where the hinges bolt to is slightly pushed in. |

I Would check The Clips As Some Are The Wrong Size ( Wide ) And Are Very Hard To Fit |
