Post subject:  ? 12g202 c/head
where can i get a set of stainless valves double valve springs and retainers for the 12g202 cylinder head ? wat would this cost ? if i was to buy a bare cylinder head should alarm bells start ringing? thanx in advance ben

You can get it all from MiniSpares, that's the cheapest. Ditto the valve springs (use Cooper S ones). Or buy from Karcraft- not much dearer.

I usually use 1275 valves in 202 heads. I machine the intakes down to 31mm, and the exhausts to 27mm. You can fit unleaded exhaust seats with these valves, just machine the new seats out to 24.5mm before you fit them.
Yes these valves are a little longer. I use 1275 bronze guides but leave them 2.0mm higher, fit a 12mm flat washer under the springs, and pack the rocker posts up 2.0mm (unless it's a BIG cam) 8)

If you want to avoid all this work, use new 998 Cooper inlets and oversize exhausts, see below.

Karcraft prices:
valves: Cooper inlet 1.219" $16.64 ea, exhausts 1.062" $14.69 ea
valve springs 7000 rpm $95.62/set
valve guides bronze $74.80/set

valve caps & collets- buy some s/h ones- plenty about. 8)

<edit> bare heads are good- easier to check for cracks, wear etc.
Anyway the old valves & springs would be probably ****.

My valves cost $18 for inlet...and $20 for Zorst :shock:

there tripple cut...and nitrided....( I think it was nitrided.....)

I was told tripple cut was the only way to go.... so they are... open to opinions... but its too late now :roll:

If you are talking triple groove collets, they are supposedly bad news for high RPM, ie racing. They don't grip the valve stem like the narrow groove ones, and wear real fast. So it says in Des Hammill's books, anyway....
I think only A+ motors got them- the idea was to let the valves rotate, perhaps.... :roll:

Nope, I'm 100% sure its tripple cut valves... gives more surface area between the seat and the valve, my old man has it in his Clevo 355 too.

OK so you mean a triple angle valve job- my bad, hehe- yes they can help flow.
