Since there seems to be no Lucas alternator above 30amps that'd fit in a mini, and I was quoted $300 for a new Bosch one, would anyone know what high output (50amps+) alts would fit in a mini nicely and what cars they can be taken off?

Also when fitting an alternator are all 12v ones fine as long as they fit or are they some inherent differences?

Cheers
Michael

I'd go to a wrecker and look at a s/h Bosch off an EA-ED Falcon. Mine looks about the same size as the Mini's one, but brackets may need a bit of a mod.
Wiring is similar: +, - and indicator light.
I think the stock one is 45A, taxi pack 65A?

Look at others while you are there- most small sized Jap ones could be made to work, mounting is probably the main hassle.
