Well. Another thing that still isnt right on the old girl. Theres just the hole for the antenna but i havent been assed to get round to getting an antenna. Should i get an automatic jobbie or just a plain manual type one? The hole is in the passenger side panel and i think its a factory hole... might be wrong. What brand should i get? I'll prolly go to repco or supercrap auto to get one... any suggestions welcome Oh and a beesting on the roof is out of the question because a) im not pulling the headlining out and b) theres already a hole in the front panel. I'd be thinking that theres not enough room under the hole for an automatic one. Check though, and make sure it wont hit the wheel. |

1. i got an old Diamond dot radio (theres a thread i started under Car Audio) 2. i found that a normal telescopic antenna worked ok, but i needed to mount it somewhere, so i looked for something else 3. i bought a $30 electronic antenna (just a small matchbox with 20 cm wings) it worked a treat when the car was turned off. 4. this is coz of interference. ive got silicon suppression leads, the antenna was on the back window, nothing helped it. 5. i just shoved a cord underneath the car, running inside the hydrolastic channel. 6. dont spend too much money on an antenna. if youve got time, test around with old antennas, tape a random one on the car if you want to test out the hole (make sure the tape doesnt rip off the paint) and then make your final decision. maybe your car or radio isnt like mine - no interference 7. my friends steve and mikey have a diamond dot with a front passenger arch antenna and it seems to work fine. maybe its just my car. its just one that sits there and doesnt retract |

Ever since some dude broke mine off, I've run a Jaycar short rubber antenna. Every 5 years or so it gets a bit perished so I wander in, buy another complete, screw the rubber bit on and chuck the rest.. ![]() No static at all.. it works good- but the stereo is a bit newer than an Astor Diamond Dot.. ![]() |
