Just out of curiosity, has anyone come up with a way to stop rod change gearboxes leaking oil around where the rod enters the rear of the gearbox. I replaced the seal when i rebuilt the engine, but it is still weaping a tiny bit.

There is a kit of a spacer and O-ring, but I just fit 2 seals in, one on top of the other...

When I did mine, the bloke helping me went and saw one of his mates in the trade (dunno what trade  ) and he had a bit of a urithane spacer/washer made up. It slides in before the seal and takes up a lot of the dead space behind the seal as well as taking a lot of the pressure of the sideways movement off the seal itself.

We pulled about 4 seals out of my engine but everybody has heard the story that you can fit ~7 in there
