the best thing to do is find a black surface (trust me ) that heats up during the day, then leave the riolls of body moulding on it for bout 2 hours, itsa like rubber
im doin a mates car in the next month or so, so we will see how we go

Just out of curiosity, is any one elses car fitted with the chrome body moulding which runs the length of the car? If so did any one else have as much trouble as me fitting it? How did you go about it? How many rolls of the stuff did u write off???? |

i just bought some recently and the guy said as I was leaving:- "Have fun fitting it, if that is at all possible"... I haven't tried it yet, but I hear a hair dryer on the bends helps. |

I used a heat gun on low heat to warm it up, took 3 of us 2 days to get mine on pefect, was made more difficult as i had to get mine around the flares as well. Wrote off 3 rolls of the stuff. I pop rivited it on from the underside the entire lenght of the car!!!! That was a mission but i know its not coming off in a hurry. |

so what was it that caused you to 'write off' 3 rolls? Was it the tight bends around the wheel arches, or drilling and riveting? |

On ocasions if you applied a little to much heat and tried to push the moulding on to the seam, it woud sort of roll over itself. Hard to explain, if i wasnt fussy you could probably still use it. Did write one roll off trying to get round one of the sharper bends, it just kinked up. Drilling and riviting was fine, was very time consuming just used very small riviets. Seemed to be if you just got a little to much heat into the stuff if became very spongy and was very easy to damage it. |

to avoid kinks when you go from the flat bit to where the flare go up, make sure when you start you have the roll the right way up. so start at the front and have the roll so its going the wrong way (not with the curve of the arch) so when when you come to the end of the arch it wont kink because the curve will be the right way. hope the makes sence??? |
