Rod at http://www.classicwiringlooms.com.au is also very good. They can supply new looms or repair your own and they will make special looms to suit anything you like. They can also recover "cotton" 850 looms.

Heritage MG at Smithfield had some cheap new mini looms.

You could also try John at Mini King. It is un-likely that'll he'll have a new one, but he will have good second hand ones and quite a bit cheaper than new.

Go straight to the person that makes the loom. Cheaper than using a middle man which will cost you more dollars. You can ask him questions and you will get correct answers. I have personally known this guy for years. His prices are very Fair too compared to others.

I got a loom from these guys and was impressed. Cotton wrapped or taped. You can choose the colour of the cotton :)
Every wire is numbered and you get a sheet to say what they all do. Im sure classic are just as good but i found vinwire to be slightly cheaper and closer to home ( just a little)

Does an English harness fit an Australian Mini without modifications?
An 850 may be Ok but all the others may be very different.

In my case, I have a '64 850 ( that's getting a 1275).

Very basic in what it has electrically. So I am guessing and hoping that the pommy loom will be OK. There's even an option to have the loom set up for an alternator instead of the old generator (which I am planning on doing).

The loom I'm thinking off comes to 120 pounds (about $210) - plus postage.

Has any one had any experience with them? Or will I be some test bunny? I think I'll get in contact with them and ask a few questions...

Why not get one of the local companies to make what you need.

I bought an English Mk II Cooper 'S' wiring harness for my 850 from Minispares for about $200 last year. My car is a bit of a bitsa and this one worked well with my setup i.e. alternator, clubman indicator switch, 1293, fuel pump etc. I think that it was only about 98 pounds when I bought mine but the are closer to 130 pounds now.

The quality of the loom was excellent.

From what I have read, autosparks have a very good rep, you wont be disappointed.

As to fit, If you are not going for originality and the harness has the features you want, it should work fine. They will also add any extras you want such as relays.

cheers

Kevin
