Post subject: | CLONK when engaging reverse and gear |
hi friends, hope you can help me here 68 matic, 33,400miles on the clock, engine sounds good. penrite classic light oil changed 3months ago. when cold (warmed for only 5minutes): gear changing is fine, quiet, smooth, Reverse engaging is also quiet when warmer (warmed for 10+minutes): putting Neutral to R, N to Drive, or R to N, there is a loud CLONK and shock through the car. is there a way to lessen this as i feel if it is done too much, wear and tear of the engine is promoted thanks |

Idle speed is too high. Should be 650 rpm in NEUTRAL for autos ![]() According to Leyland shop manual. |

Mine `used to be' a Morris MiniMatic. Still sez so on its rump. But it's had a 1310 S transplant, with lots of goodies... ![]() |
