Post subject: | What Tyre size is best? |
Was ringing around tyre places today to get prices on some 13x6 superlites and some tyres to match and I have been getting a couple of different size tyres. One place said they can only get 185x60x13 and somewhere else said they would go with 205x50x13. So whats the go? which tyre size is the best size to have. I want 50 series profile or lower to save on space but what width fits best? Also has anyone ever used any tyres which they recommend to use or to stay away from? Want something which will grip like crap to a rag, but also last a while. Some idea of prices would be nice too. So far they have mainly been around the $125 mark or something like that. Todd |

I'm pretty sure the usual fitment in UK is 175/50-13. You CAN get that size here, I've got 'em on my boat (trailer..) ![]() |

well most of the tyre places around here reckon that most tyre companys don't make 175x50x13. Today found a place which sells 175x50x13 yokohamas for $195 each, but they are really really good tyres, but so far thats the only place which has sold anything in that size. |

Mine are Kumho 175/50-13s. Been on the boat trailer 6 or 7 years at least. I hope they still make them- I want to put 2 on my caravan (Torana wheels) ![]() |

I measured my 175/50-13s, also Bridgestone 165/70-10s, both mounted- the 13" ones are over 60mm bigger diameter than the 10s are... ![]() |

We are using some 13" Bridgestones which came from UK imported by Northern Mini Parts. They are fantastic. My husband travels over 100kms per day to work and back 5 days a week so he likes good tyres. He wreckons these are great. Wouldn't recommend Symes. You can email them on |

I can get 175x50x13 yokohama 539 (i think) locally for $175 each and they are meant to be bloody good tyres. Got a mate at work who has them on his car and he says they are great, plus the tread pattern looks horn. So I will probably just go with them. |

Post subject: | How to compare tyre sizes |
Take a look at this site. It has the option for entering in tyre sizes and then comparing the rolling diameter and finding out the differences. Yeh, i have just ordered some Continental tyres myself. Did you know that there is a Continental distributor in Sydney. Tyres4us at this web address http://www.tyres4us.com.au They were very helpful and they are having them delivered to their Melbourne distribution centre for us. Should be arriving in their next container. |
