Post subject:  converting to electronic ignition
I had a look at search but it just came up I have this fitted already kind of posts. Anyways was just wondering whats involved and the cost to convert? Any differences of exactly the same for round nosed and clubman? The question was put to me and I was like huh what er um I dunno, and I want to.

Hi Mate,
I had John at mini king install the kit that he sells and its just a matter of replacing the points in the dizzy, just check with John as this kit only works with some not all of the mini dizzy's. The install took about 25 mins and I did notice the difference up higher in the rev range,(it seems a lot smoother...) not so much lower in the revs, mind you I think that a full electronic dizzy would prob be the way to go but there up around the $500 mark!, I hope that helps mate.

P.s Glen, Johns mechanic, said that the kit makes the car a little more reliable in wet weather also.... :D

Pottsy from Mini Experience wrote a good article on an electronic dizzy made by a company in Melbourne who caters for classic cars. The artical didn't give a price. If you want the name of the company let me know.

The Aldon Ignightor I have took 30 mins to install and is still going strong(well up until I too the car off the road...lol)

$178 5 years ago - think it is a little dearer now but not called Aldon - I think Petronix(??)

If you want a Pertronix Ignitor it's MUCH cheaper to buy from USA than either here or UK.
