I'm in the process of fitting extractors and a water heated Metro inlet manifold to the 1275 in my Wolseley 1300, it has the angled heater take off pipe from the head with the tap attached. My problem is if I tap into this hose the water only runs when the heater is turned on (the other side runs from the heater take off on the bottom radiator hose). My question is....... has anyone seen or made or knows where I could buy a fitting to go under the heater pipe which would allow me to connect into the system but bypass the heater tap. Alternatively does anyone have any other suggestions to making this work? cheers Kevan |

Hi, You don't really need the water heating through the manifold unless it is cold enough to have the heater on anyway. (IMHO) The only option I know of is to replace the heater tap on the head with a plain elbow from a Clubman engine. Then water will circulate through the heater all the time, which may make the interior to warm on a hot day. Cheers, |

This is what I have set up for my cooling/heating on the LS.. From the head elbow, on to the heater core then onto the manifold which is plummed in to the heater. I took the tap off the heater in the car so as the water flows through it all the time and it gives off enough heat to warm the car with the fan blowing...

I have a metro inlet manifold on my mini. It has the off/on tap on the head outlet and plumbs from there through the heater (and returns). The heater has no off / on tap and its all controlled manually under the bonnet manually. We are at 600 metres above sea level and have heavy heavy frosts at times. The mini is not a daily driver but certainly doesn't like cold frosty weather. With a cold winter thermostat (88 C ???) there is a minimum of carby freezing and the heater works well (for mist clearing off the windscreen as much as heating) I also run rust inhibiter in the radiator as well as a sludge trapment sock and come warmer weather I just turn off the warm water throught the manifold and heater. Whats the issue ?? |

thanks for your input guys the reason for my question is that I have been recommended by my A-series mechanic to heat the manifold although it appears that this is a somewhat contenous idea |

I have been running the water heated manifold for a while now and it does help in the cold mornings we have down here in the Latrobe Valley.. I believe it gets cold in Melbourne as well...
