just outta curiosity because obviously i dont own a mini, but in NSW what are the laws in terms of fitting a roll cage to a mini and keeping it street legal? also wats the average cost for one and to have it fitted?

Half cage only, top roll bar must be 90mm away from the highest point of the seat, no bars obsecuring the rear window, must be engineered and will be registered as a two seater only.

Can someone tell me where the lastest place (Melbourne based) to get one installed is, for a race/road car? It must be CAMS approved so has to be steel unfortunatly!

So, how about on a Moke then- my `79 has none now (missing when bought), so due to the silly $$ people think Californian bars are worth, and me being a welder, I'm considering just copying the noice one Spiro has on it.

On a Moke its fine as long as you dont call it a rol bar - they are seatbelt hangers. I got mine for for less than the material cost

Would the bars shown here be considered as obscuring the rear window?
What about a single rear bar in the middle?

Unless already log booked, CAMS now requires roll cages to be from an FIA approved manufacturer. Have a look on the CAMS web site - they are listed there.

From memory there are only three (Bond and two others I can't remember).

That car seems to be unregistered and having bars bolted to the rear shelf seems silly to me, most half cages have the top bar and two side bars that go down the rear arches. As for rear vision, so long as it it not blocking or obsecuring your view. Your best bet is to still consult the engineer.

I've got a rear cage.

No passengers in the back!!! So think about that when you do it.

Mines the same as the one on 'Low n Blown's S/C 850.

Here in SA, the transport authorities were not worried about side window vision but distance back from front seats. Different staes have different rules, should check before doing anything.
