I have a standard head 202 on 1098cc, no work at all. I have put extractors on, 3 into 2, and 2 into 1. Standard Cam. Air filters of choice so far (but can change easily) are K&N pancake with the 1.5"SU and piper-cross with the 1.75" HIFF44 SU Should I put a 1.75" HIFF44 SU Carb on the clubman, or a 1.5" SU ? So far, the "mechanics" have told me that is too big, - except one said - TOO BIG, unless you jet it down with a ADC needle. Is this right? Does anyone have a 1.75" carb on a 1098 with standard CAM and standard 202 head? How would this handle? Help please |

The HIF is more suited to a 1275 IMO, but it would probably work OK if "jetted" correctly. There are differing opinions on this forum about size of SU's for various engine capacities. My view is the bigger the venturi, the less low down torque, so if your'e not worries about loss of torque (and like working your gears), go for it. I use a HIFf44 on a 1098 but no its not a standard 202 Head or Cam Eather way HIFF44 or a HS6 you will need to get the correct needle for your engine anyway |

Every mechanical device has its archilles heel - HIF's heel is the "O" around the choke mechanism which hardens and perishes with our internationally high grade fuels. So put a kit through the carby before fitting it. Apart from that the HIF is a more modern carby and I have no problems with mine although its a 1310 motor. The needle matching program "WinSu" suggests a BFH needle as a starting point for your engine as you described it. Midel in Sydney has these needles. |

I had a hif44 on my clubby, 1100 wade Cam Extractors and zorst Standard head Mini spares alloy inlet manifold Ran Great!!! (just within tunable range with standard needle) |

Hmm would need to be setup. I'm running an HIF44 on a superchargered 1330cc. But is jetted much richer than the Rover V8 it came from, so an HIF would work. Put a kit through it, set it up and use it, but I wouldn't highly recommend buying one for the purpose, but hey HIF is a good carby and it will work. How well it will work is up to your (or a professionals) tuning skills. |

Yep go for the hif 44 they are a great carburettor but you will most likley have to play around with the needle size
