hey guy first long drive in tiny today and ive noticed something really wrong, when ever i put my foot down close to the floor on the accelerater the engine begins to struggle and splatter.. i checked the spark seems to be fine check for fuel leaks theres none, a guy at work reckons it could be the fact that the motors flooding everytime but i think its something else.

anyone got any clues?

Does it happen when you SLAM the pedal down (floor it) only?
What if you slowly accelerate but get to the floor (slowly)?
Was it raining?
Does it do it EVERY single time you floor it or sometimes?
Does it run perfectly otherwise?

Didnt your carby miraculously dislodge itself from the head when u tried to drive up a straight edged gutter? Maybe that has got something to do with the fault?

i have this problem also when i slam the foot down but its fine if i accelerate slow interesting to know what people say i thought it was normal

it never happened with the other carby (pommy su)

and i changed the carby hanra to a different one, the one i had, had the float at the bottom and broken off in the accident

Guys,
check you have oilz in the piston damper.
If not, I'd try ATF to start with.
If yes, try something thicker, or thinner.

So has anyone tuned this replacement carb? Are you running the correct needle for you engine? Is the float level set correctly? Is there oil in the dashpot? Is the choke stuck open?

Well take it back for warranty repair. Dont frig with it, let them fix it.

Hmmm, my money is on the new carb mate.
Probably easiest thing to swap and test.

Dont touch any of there work, that way u cant be blamed for messing anything up. Give them a call 1st and let them know ur having issues, let them take another look at it.

They mite even find a green tree frog lodged in a cylinder? Who knows....

hmmm ill ring glen at mini king tomorrow and ask cause he said that every thing seems fine and went for the drive in it, it might be with the carby

Ok I'm having a similiar issue but I know the casue and am going to fix it this week when I feel like doing it.

My car leans out we flooring it from part throttle (cruising) to full, the piston in the SU lifts up too fast and lets loads of air in but not enough fuel, it leans out = no power and bad running and possible pre-igntion or pinging.

The ways of fixing this are commonly a stronger spring or, and a thicker SU dashpot fluid.

I'm running an HIF44, and a supercharger so my car is much more readily going to send up the piston in the carby than a N/A motor as my car is sucking a lot harder than an N/A. It only happens from part throttle, from first gear and up it doesnt as i start with the pedal down (while taking the clutch off) but especially in high gears (more load) it leans out, but if you get up to a good rpm slowly eg. 3000 it goes to 6500rpm really quickly, that's supercharged power.

I'm first going to re-fit my twin springs which my tuner took out for an unknown reason and recommended I put them back in, if not good I'll try other thicker oils, or see if I can get a singular stiffer spring.
