Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding engine ID (yeah, I know, that old chestnut :) ). I have an engine with the number 99H791P/126923.
From the Miniresource Web site I have found out that the 99H791 is a "Mini 1000 1974 on with dished pistons" but I was wondering if the "P" has any significance as they don't mention it on their site. Thanks.

Common number for a Clubby 998 motor, pre-emission.
No idea what the P means but in this case it's not `Police', so relax....

Thanks Doc. I got a nice little surprise when I took the head off today. It looks as though it has been bored 60 oversize. It will do nicely in the grey van for the time being until I get to restore the whole car. Only problem is I have to separate the whole thing as I want to use the 850 gearbox to prevent cutting a hole in the floor. The vans engine has dropped no. 1 cylinder and is only reading 55 on compression check. Oh well at least it'll give me something to do for the next few weekends :)
