My 1970 matic has the clubby horn button, what year is your car, you must have the old Mk1 setup. Indicator light on the end of blinker switch?

What about a horn button mounted on the steering wheel spoke with a telephone cord like lead (from Jaycar or Dick Smith) connecting to the steering column, that would probably look pretty OK....

Or fit a clubby column and shroud and indicator?

Yup, that's the one, although there isn't a light on the end anymore, just a long chrome stick

I was looking at clubby style blinker stalks, looks like you could fit it but would have to remove the tabs to hold the original shroud on, which means no going back...

<edit>Was just looking at it now, looks like a clubby one will fit without removing the tabs, it doesn't quite line up perfectly with the canceller bolt but still works. Interestingly the reason my indicators never ever cancelled properly might just be because the canceller bolt points in the wrong direction to cancel at the right time!

I think you should be able to fit a clubman indicator stalk without modifications, but yeah, you need the clubman shroud....

on the self cancelling - the bolt in the bottom of the steering column should be at horizontal, and closest to the floor when the wheels are pointing straight ahead, then the canceller lug will be in the right spot it was designed that way

what sort of steering wheel do you have? can you hook up the centre button?

I've got a formuling wheel and it can't take a horn button. At the moment when the steering is pointing straight ahead the canceller lug on the column points straight up, which I don't think is right. I'll check it all tomorrow and try to get it right.
