yes thats right.... I was changing a tire on my '77 leyland mini van, and everything went well, except once I had finished, I noticed that my windscreen had cracks all through it.

I'm just wondering if there is something obvious that I did wrong, or if I jacked the car up in the wrong place or something?

Anyone else had this happen to them?

cheers.
Andrew.

The rubber in the windscreen frame should have flexed before the whole shell put weight on the glass itself.

Old laminated screens are very touchy though. Many windscreen fitters refuse to touch a second hand one.

I was replacing the front right wheel.

And I jacked the car up about 2/3 of the way between the two wheels - closer to the front right (obviously).

I need to swap that wheel off again, but i'm scared i'll crack the new windscreen!!!

Put the jack underneath ur front subframe. If u have a new laminated safety screen fitted now, u should be ok.
