Post subject:  Seats - Autotecnica or SAAS

I've done some searching of threads and found everyones putting in second hand seats into their cars.

I wanted to get something new around the $800-$900 mark for 2 seats, and found both Autotecnica and saas seats at Repco.

Are these any good and we're can you get rails from? Do they have to be engineered? (I've got a 72 Clubby.

Any other suggestions for seats would be appreciated I'm in the Sydney area and getting desperate cause my seats suck big time......

I don't think they need 'engineering', as most adr's didn't kick in till about '74 I think.
As long as it is good and solid it should be fine.
Cobra have brackets available, but they cost around $100 each.
:D

They certainlly will need to be engineered. If u use after market mounts, that to will need to be engineered. If u use harnesses, that will also need to be engineered.

Ive got Sparco's with modified Cobra frames, and SAAS harnesses. All had to be engineered and blue plated for RWC. Also needed to alter seating capacity down to 2.

I also need a new backseat now, on the way home, my car jack jumped onto the positive terminal and my back seat caught on fire, fried my battery and caused some nice damage to the interior. If anyone was on the way home from the city (sydney) at about 5:30 tonight that was me on the entrance to the Anzac bridge, stamping out flames.

Not really, cant remember the dollar figures, but basically just had to keep in touch with the Engineer, he advised me what needed to be dont for it to pass.

I had to modify the Cobra seat frame thou. He wanted them completly bolted to the floor, so it was unable to pivot like a standard seat can. Also needed to be plated underneath the floor where it was mounted.

Also the harnesses are obvilously plated under the floor at there mounting points also.

Was a bit of stuffing around, but the Engineer advised me who to take it to, to get the work done. So he was happy with the welds n stuff that were done to the frame for it to suit the Sparco Seat.

ooooh I wouldnt mind taking my mini to get the seat conversion done and blue plated...

I remembered before there's a company in brisbane i found and told me that it will be around $300+ for installation including blue plate but you have to supply the seats and must be ADR complied or from another car with rails
