Post subject:  clutch and brake master cylinders

Hi guys
Are these servicable i.e seal kit etc or should I just replace them with new or good second hand ones?. I have never had them functioning in the car so i dont know what kinda nic there in. Just dont want to have to redo them later.

Advice will be greatly appreciated as usual.
Thank yall

Kits are about $6-$7, new master brake $100-$120'ish? Not sure on the master clutch.

I kitted my master clutch a few weeks ago. Just use a high grade fine sandpaper to smooth out the bore (?) a bit before fitting all the new rubbers in. If you open it up to kit it and it looks fine inside i'd rekit it and see how you go. If it's all buggered then a new lot is in order. Some people refuse to kit brake components as there are the odd horror stories around.

If the budget allows new ones, go the new ones.

In Canberra we have a guy who does stainless sleeves for brake cylinders. That plus a kit is better then buying new IMHO.

Just had my clutch m/cylinder & slave cylinder re-sleeved with stainless sleeves($66 for m/cyl --$40 for slave, fitted new kits, clutch working great, was tearing my hair out trying to find the problem with the clutch, turned out to be a very small mark in the m/cyl.
