I am starting to put together a new motor for the LS.. Bought the 1049cc one off ebay and a 12G202 head off deluxe_68. The engine is getting stripped down to make sure all is ok plus check what sort of cam it has in it.. What I would like to know is what sort of rockers I should use.. Forged, Pressed or 1.5 Roller Rockers?? I will be putting in a lightweight flywheel, single 1-1/2" SU??, electronic dissie plus what ever else it will need to give it a bit more go power. I am also putting in a new 3 core radiator and a high flow water pump.. |

from what ive heard there is little if any hp increase (1-4hp) from the stock rockers to big $ rollers. Spend the money on some nice LCB extractors instead. |

Best rockers for a smallbore most tuners reckon are the pressed steel ones. The early 1275 ones with the oval pads are best. Unless it's a race motor forget 1.5s.. they really only work in 1275s. I reckon the late Clubby and A+ sintered ones are rubbish... and they tend to wear the ends of valve stems when they get a bit of wear. I suppose 1.3 rollers would look schmick, but who can afford them here.. ![]() |
