Having fitted new adjustable shocks all round I thought it would be worthwhile checking all the rest of the suspension settings while I am at it and before I start playing with the shock settings. Rear toe 1mm in Rear camber neutral Front toe 2mm out Front camber 1.5 deg neg Front caster 2 deg pos. The fronts are as I set them a couple of years ago. The rears i set with very slight camber which seems to have defaulted back to neatral ( of course my measuring may be the differemce here) All in all the settings are spot on so any changes from the shock settings can be assesed on merit now. |

Initial iressioms of the gaz dampers is good. A lot less skittish on the gravel roads round here without the rear tramping I had before and on the highway a lpt more settled with less bounce and understeer. The fronts are set at about a third up the range from soft and are a similar feel to the spax I had on previoisly. On the rears however with the gaz set slightly softer than the front, just under a quarter up the range from soft they were noticeably firmer than the konis which I was replacing. I thought the konis were at about midway but I will check later. All in all the new gaz adj dampers are a good choice. |

Your shock settings are actually quite interesting from the perspective of the previous anti roll bar conversation. You can effect over or understeer with shock settings, firm reduces grip on that axle, soft increases grip. Your preferred settings seem to suggest you either prefer some understeer or something is tending your mini to oversteer which your shock settings are countering, it may be the gravel roads you mention. Either way it suggests an rear arb would take you further from the settings you seem to prefer. |
