Does anyone know where I might be able to find a 998 head gasket tomorrow (a Saturday) or even Sunday on the Northside of Brisbane.

Matt is at Leyburn so I don't think Readspeed will be open since I went past at 4:00 today and even then there was nobody there.

Either my head gasket is bad or there is a crack. Going to try retorque the head but that is obviously unlikely to fix it. Since it was only replaced a few months ago it doesn't sound good. Losing coolant but I only find a small amount of pressure going into the cooling system. My exhaust analyser does detect HC in the cooling system.

I found a store which had one, and from what I understand I got one of the best gaskets.

My understanding is that the ACL company does not exist any more.

I believe so too. I believe I have read these are meant to be good gaskets, better than currently available ones but ACL closed down. This must've been sitting on the shelf for many years.

Nice find on a Saturday. You must have made a few calls!

Would have thought any gasket found at short notice on a sat morn was a good one.
I wonder if the 12 month warranty will be upheld. ;-)

If 4/12/07 at the top left of the packaging is a date then its about sixteen years old, so New Old Stock.

They were THE gasket to use if you had a turbo on it.

It was only the second call, a store I had never been to but thought there was a chance they might actually stock useful parts. After searching they told me they didn't have a head gasket but they did have a vrs for $35. Not sure if they have more or not.

Unsurprisingly the head is warped but I will hopefully still get it sorted quickly by using another head, maybe the one from my van.

That rocker cover gasket looks solid (especially with the push out part). It looks like it will keep its shape better than the ones you buy now, that easy bow inwards...
