12G1288 is the part number for a 1275 non-S crankshaft 22A1288 gearbox was used on the Cooper S (and other engines). To confirm it’s an S box it would have a “12FA” number stamped on the front in the range in the link below viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99897 |

22A1288 started to appear in the 9FSAY 48000s. Serial numbers were in the 12FA 17000s. It wasn't an exact changeover so there will be engines in the 9FSAY 49000s with the earlier 22G333 box. |
