Post subject:  FUEL EVAPORATION

I finally got my Mini engine going yesterday.

It's been in the shed overnight and the shed is hot.

Tried to start it today and the electric pump just keeps ticking, so no fuel, checked the tanks and yes no fuel.

The gauge showed not empty yesterday and now it is.

What happened to all my fuel overnight? Seems like it just evaporated.

Put more in and see if it’s leaking?

No leaks, well there were but replaced all leaking hoses.

How much fuel was actually in it yesterday? I assume it is in the car so it won't have gone into the engine by having a tank above the engine.

Fuel gauge was just positive 1/4" and the car is in the usual configuration.

Faulty gauge maybe?

How much fuel are you actually talking about? Don't worry about what the fuel gauge says. How much in actual litres?

Dip the tank with a stick or rod.

I would be checking and double checking for a leak. If the fuel caps are on, I doubt that it is possible to evaporate 5 to 10 litres overnight.
