Running this poll because I am trying to source the correct rubber replacement. Hope I get a response so I can install my TRIPLEX laminated windscreen in my Cooper S with a new rubber. I may be contacting members who have a positive vote. If there are no YES votes, it would appear I have the only TRIPLEX left and that must be GOLD. Attachment: TRIPLEX Laminated Windscreen (4).jpg

The poll is because I think these windscreens were the original ones used and no one seems to know anything about them. Your right Allen but what's the rush. |

You question seems to be about the thickness of the original Triplex laminated screen versus the currently available laminated screens. I reckon both would be close to the same thickness so the currently available sealing rubber is OK for either. What is the thickness of your Triplex screen? https://minisport.com.au/mini-front-win ... 59-to-1991 |

One manual I’ve seen says: Toughened glass 3/16” Laminated glass 1/4” |

The slot for the glass in a Cooper S rubber seal is around 1/4" according to the engineering drawing. The round-nose and Clubman parts books shows both the toughened (thinner) and laminated (thicker) screens that were available, and their corresponding rubbers. Attachment: PUB1012 RE02-1 R.jpg Attachment: PUB1052 page RG2.jpg Note that some current suppliers use the HYA7161 number to identify what they sell, but that was the number for the thinner version which is not really of use these days as laminated became standard. They should be using HYA7162 for complete accuracy but not a big deal as their product description tells you what you are getting. |

The Cooper S was laminated , thickness was 1-4 inch .The new rubbers will fit any screen.Easy to fit, tool required for locking strip or you can make one , the easiest way to fit them is fit the rubber in the opening then install the glass. I have also used the rope method if you use this method the rope must be pulled parallel to the screen and baby powder must be applied to the rope. When fitting Mini Door Rubbers brush baby powder onto the rubbers if you do this twice a year the doors will close well . Today I have fitted 4 door rubbers to a Morris 1500 the owner could not get the doors to shut correctly some adjusting was required and the use of BABY POWDER on the rubbers .They now fit better than new ,as usual a love job for a club member. Hope this helps Larry , time does count for me as I am 76 and going strong. You can also use baby powder on the locking strips. Allen |

1-4 inch or 6.5 mm The main thing is it should be a laminated screen for driver and passenger safety it is now an ADR also OEM requirement. Just like in an old car you would fit front seat belts for safety I have fitted belts in a lot of old cars .Don't think I would like to be in a head on without belts and a laminated screen Allen |

188 views and only 5 votes to a simple yes or no question. Says enough about this poll. |

I was hoping to message members who replied with a yes to get any info on the rubber seal they used because the current seals do not fit. |

So you've tried the seals readily available from the usual Mini parts places and they don't fit? May have helped to mention that at the outset as most responses are pointing you to that part. How are the current seals not fitting? Is the gap too thin? Where did you source your Triplex screen? Is it New Old Stock or current manufacture? |
